About the project
Fishing by sweep nets on the lower reaches of the Tay was a way of life for generations of families. However, it came to an end in 1996, closing a chapter on an industry which, at times employed hundreds.
The Tay Salmon Fishing memories booklet commissioned by the Trust ( formerly Tay Regeneration Project ), Fife Rural Partnership and Tay Salmon Fisheries attempts to capture the magic of a now, sadly bygone era on the river Tay. It is a collection of memories of some of the people who were once a common sight on traditional tay salmon coble boats and the banks of the Tay, making a living from salmon fishing.
